A widespread crash of Redsys, the platform that operates Bizum, card payments and ATMs, suffered a massive crash of unknown origin this Saturday at noon, generating chaos nationwide.
Digital payment methods have stopped working in Spain at this time. The DownDetector website, specialized in recording mishaps in internet-connected services in real time, has detected incidents since 1:00 p.m. in the applications of banks such as BBVA, Santander or Visa.
In the case of the capital of Gran Canaria, incidents were reported in practically all commercial areas, causing the collapse of numerous stores and businesses. Incidents in this regard were reported in Mesa y López, Triana, La Minilla and El Mirador.
Bank administrations are trying to resolve the inconveniences, although several citizens continue to denounce queues in supermarkets on social networks because the payment methods still work from time to time and intermittently.
