US President Joe Biden released a video before the highly anticipated Super Bowl (American football league championship match) final. Biden criticized food companies for alleged “shrinkflation” (shrinking products while keeping prices the same).
According to the news reported by The Guardian, snack manufacturers “downsizing robbery” Biden criticized him for his actions, “The American people are tired of being taken for fools” told.
Biden, “Some companies are trying to make a quick profit by slowly shrinking products and hoping you won’t notice.” he stated.
Biden shared the video published on the official presidential X account and wrote:
“When you’re Super Bowl shopping, have you noticed the packages containing smaller items than usual while the price remains the same? People are looking for that. ‘Shrinkage’ and that means companies give you less for every dollar you spend. “I’m calling on big consumer brands to put an end to this.”
In the video included in the post, Biden made the following speech:
“Today is Super Bowl Sunday, and if you’re like me, you want to have a snack or two around while you watch the big game. You may have noticed something when shopping for snacks for the game: The bottles of the drinks are smaller, there are fewer chips in a bag of chips, but you still want to have a snack or two around you.” they charge the same amount of money. As an ice cream lover, the thing that pisses me off the most is that ice cream boxes have actually shrunk. I’m sick of what they call it. Shrinkflation! It’s a rip-off. Some Companies are trying to make a quick exit by shrinking the products little by little, hoping you won’t notice. Come on. “The American people are tired of being taken for granted. I’m calling on companies to stop this. Let’s make sure companies are doing the right thing.”
