Borsa Istanbul completed the last day of the week at a record level


BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul closed the day at 9,045.97 points, a record level, with a 1.07 percent gain in value.

While the BIST 100 index increased by 96.18 points compared to the previous closing, the total transaction volume was 120.2 billion lira.

The banking index gained 0.54 percent and the holding index gained 0.90 percent.

Among the sector indices, the one that gained the most was mining with 3.08 percent, and the one that decreased the most was insurance with 0.78 percent.

“Risk appetite remains strong”

Analysts said that risk appetite remained strong in global share markets, as the data announced in the USA pointed to a strong stance in the country’s economy, supporting “soft landing” scenarios, and company profitability around the world continued to exceed expectations.

Next week, domestic balance of payments, labor force statistics, market participants survey, housing sales, and abroad, inflation in the USA, growth in the Eurozone, the UK and Japan, industrial production in the USA, the UK and the Eurozone. Stating that an intense data agenda will be followed, analysts noted that technically, 9,140 points in the BIST 100 index are resistance and 8,900 and 8,800 levels are support.

Economists estimate a current account deficit of $35 billion for 2024

Economists participating in the AA Finance Balance of Payments Expectations Survey estimate that the current account will have a deficit of 3 billion 83 million dollars in December 2023.

Economists expect the current account deficit to be 46 billion 98 million dollars in 2023 and 35 billion 250 million dollars in 2024.
