Chinese SAIC welcomes investment | Economic News

Doğan Trend Otomotiv, the distributor of MG Turkey, which sold nearly 15 thousand units last year, held an annual evaluation meeting. Speaking at the meeting, Doğan Trend Automotive CEO Kağan Dağtekin made statements about the investments to be made by the Chinese automotive giant SAIC Group, the manufacturer of MG.

INVESTMENT TEMPOS HAS INCREASED FOR 3 MONTHS

Stating that SAIC was a leader in its sector by producing 5.3 million automotive units and exporting 1.2 million units last year, Dağtekin summarized the brand’s perspective on investment in Turkey as follows: “We have been working at an increasing pace on factory investment for 2 years. It has gotten a little faster in the last 3 months. We are trying to establish one of SAIC’s factories and production facilities in Turkey. “There is nothing negative going on.”

WE ARE IN A RACE WITH FRANCE AND GERMANY

Underlining that Turkey is one of the countries with the most important production capacity in terms of automotive production, Kağan Dağtekin said, “They are interested in Turkey, but we are not alone. There are also countries such as Germany and France in this race. We will fight until the end. A high-level delegation was in Turkey last 2 weeks ago. We visited our Minister of Industry and the Presidential Investment Office with the delegation. We took a tour of our automotive facilities. They were impressed. But the process continues and we will not give up. “I believe that sooner or later we will establish a facility in Turkey under the SAIC brand,” he said.

DETAILS WILL BE CLEAR IN 1-2 MONTHS IN 7 REGIONS 20 SERVICES

Stating that there are conflicting areas in the 7 regions and 20 service conditions in the import of electric vehicles and that this will be clarified with the regulations, Doğan Trend Automotive CEO Dağtekin said, “As soon as we establish these facilities ourselves, we will be in direct competition with our dealers. In this sense, there are places we are not sure about and left behind. I hope there will be a reversal in the decision. It’s very challenging. Otherwise, a great deal of resources will be wasted. “If the notification continues in this way, we will solve it with a formula that will not upset anyone,” he said. Doğan Trend Automotive Deputy General Manager Tibet Soysal said, “We have started working on creating a solution that will not victimize our dealers and will keep them involved. “I guess the notification can be fully fleshed out within 1-2 months,” he said.

MG7 WILL BE PRODUCED SPECIALLY FOR TURKEY

Stating that they stocked electric models before the notification, Kağan Dağtekin said, “We took precautions and diverted the ships destined for Europe here. We have enough stock to last through the middle of the year. With the notification, people had a question mark. Buying and selling it is not prohibited. Anyone can buy and ride. “This perception is wrong,” he said. Stating that they wanted to bring the MG7 model to Turkey, Dağtekin said, “China had no plans for Europe specifically for this model. They gave us special approval and made the investment for production. “We will introduce this model in the first quarter of next year,” he said.

MG4’S ADVERTISEMENT IS GOING GLOBAL

Tibet Soysal underlined that the commercial they shot for MG4 was very liked by China and will be released in the world, and said, “They will also use this film in Europe and other countries.” Providing information about the new models they will introduce, Soysal said, “We will enter the hatchback segment with the new MG3. We will go on sale in July. “The other model will be the Cyberster,” he said.
