Diesel prices increased 40 times in one year!

CHP Manisa Deputy Vehbi Bakırlıoğlu, a member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Planning and Budget Commission, reminded that he faced great reactions when he announced that diesel fuel would exceed 40 TL, and announced his new prediction after the local elections as 60 TL. Bakırlıoğlu said:

“The price of diesel fuel, which was 19 lira 71 kuruş, became 45 lira with the last increase. Fluctuations in oil and exchange rates and increased tax rates continue to be reflected in increases in fuel prices. Increases in gasoline and diesel prices directly mean an increase in inflation. “Increasing everything from needle to thread means increasing the cost of living.”

Bakırlıoğlu pointed out that if the price of diesel fuel increased by 128 percent in nine months, the real inflation would not be below 100 percent, and noted that everyone knows that the “felt” inflation will not be below the increases in gasoline and diesel prices, no matter what TUIK announces. Bakırlıoğlu continued as follows:

“With the increases that came between the two elections, the 50-litre tank of a car or a tractor will cost 947 lira in the election, but today it will be 2 thousand 250 lira. Before the election, 431 liters of diesel could be purchased with a minimum wage of 8 thousand 506 liras, but today only 377 liters of diesel can be purchased with the minimum wage of 17 thousand 2 liras for 2024.”

Bakırlıoğlu said, “According to the statement of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the tax burden on diesel fuel has increased from 26.1 percent to 38.5 percent” and said that a new system is needed and added, “The tax burden on fuel should be reduced.” l ANKARA
