Continuing with the investment prospecting agendas for Rio Grande do Sul in New York, the Governor Eduardo Leite and entourage participated in the morning of this Thursday (11) in the 16th Itaú BBA Latin America CEO ConferenceItaú’s investment arm, held at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel, on the traditional Madison Avenue.
Already traditional in the calendar of the international financial market, the agenda is seen as important means of connecting and generating business and investment opportunities for Itaú BBA clients and global investors.
“In these agendas with banks and investors we have the opportunity to show our project portfolio. And our State now adheres to these investment funds, and we show the portfolio that lies ahead, the opportunities of Rio Grande do Sul “, said the governor.
In this portfolio of assets in search of investors are, for example, the warehouses at Cais Mauá, concessions for building prisons, new road blocks, etc. “So, we put RS on the radar of these investors, so that when they think about Brazil they see beyond Rio and São Paulo”, he emphasized.
According to him, the receptivity to the State’s projects has been good, although he notes some reticence at the federal level, due to the change of government, lack of sufficient information about the fiscal framework. “In the eyes of these investors, there are some government movements that represent setbacks, such as the sanitation milestone, cancellation of the privatization of Eletrobras, uncertainties about the framework. All of this creates a fog that leaves investors insecure in relation to the country.”
Among the investors present, many businessmen from the energy sector, who, according to members of the entourage, showed a lot of interest in the potential of green hydrogen projects in RS.
In this sense, reinforced the governor, it is important the work being done these days, alongside other chief executives, to show that the federated entities have a agenda of privatizations, concessions and reduction of the public machine that makes Brazil a good destination for investments. “We are also here to speak well of Brazil. I have my disagreements with the central government, I make an effort here to show Brazil as an investment destination”, he concluded.
The mission’s agenda in New York this afternoon will be dedicated to an immersion in Google, without press coverage. This agenda, along with a visit this Friday (12th) to the Mastercard Tech Hub closes the series of meetings aimed at seeking partnerships in the area of innovation.
