Eşarj General Manager Barış Altınay said about the charging time of electric cars: “We foresee that charging operations, which require a minimum of 3-4 hours, will perhaps take the same time as fuel filling in the next medium term.”
Altınay pointed out that some models can reach 80 percent charging in 10-15 minutes. “There are now examples where we don’t even talk for half an hour,” said Altınay, adding that prevalence is as important as speed in car charging. Altınay said, “Currently, with our operator, a customer can travel from Edirne to Hakkari, from Datça to Iğdır, without requiring too much waiting. The electric vehicle, which was the second vehicle of the house until last year, is now the only vehicle of the house.” “When we go back 13-14 months, there were 5 operators. We were one of them. Today, there are nearly 150 charging operators. We see that 10-15 percent of them have live applications in the field, but this shows the appetite,” he said.
Evaluating the impact of the domestic automobile Togg on the sector, Altınay said, “We have been in this sector for 15 years, but Togg is behind the acceleration in the last year. Togg both increased the interest and helped reduce the question marks in the mind. When we look at the last two months, our number of new members is the highest.” “We see that its stakeholder is Togg. Global manufacturers are also bringing many more models to Turkey. Thanks to Togg, we can see that concerns about security and charging have decreased and interest has increased significantly,” he said.
