The airports of the Canary Islands have registered in the first month of the year 4,293,707 passengers and 37,315 operationswhich represents 8.3% and 4.9%, respectively, more than the previous year and the best January in its history.

This has been reported by Aena, which adds that of the total number of travelers in January, 4,255,811 corresponded to commercial flight passengers –1,496,988 in national (+6.3% year-on-year), and 2,758,823 did so in international (+9.9%)–.

For its part, regarding the air cargo2,654 tons of merchandise were transported, 8.1% more than in the same period in 2023.

Meanwhile, through airports, Gran Canaria had the highest number of passengers in January with 1,291,168, which represents an increase of 7.2% compared to the same month in 2023; ahead of Tenerife South, with 1,205,932 passengers (+10.3%).

Then they place themselves the César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport with 671,415 passengers (+6.9%); Fuerteventura, 508,548 (+7.1%); Tenerife North-City of La Laguna, 471,736 (+8.1%); La Palma, 115,440 (+14.2%, the highest percentage increase); El Hierro, 21,867 (+10.2%); and La Gomera Airport, 7,601 (+13%).
