HOW MUCH WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE BE?

What the minimum wage will be has not been determined yet, but it is expected to be slightly above the hunger line.

According to the calculation made by TÜRK-İŞ, the monthly food expenditure (hunger limit) that a family of four living in Ankara must make in order to have a healthy, balanced and adequate diet increased to 13,684 TL in October.

The hunger limit is expected to reach 15 thousand lira by the end of the year.

WHEN WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE BE DECLARED?

The minimum wage will be determined as a result of the meetings to be held in December with the participation of workers, employers and Ministry representatives.

The minimum wage is determined by the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which consists of 15 people, including five representatives from workers, employers and the government, as required by law. The Commission meets four times in December, as per custom, within the scope of its efforts to determine the new minimum wage.

The commission, chaired by one of the members determined by the Ministry, meets with the participation of at least 10 members and decides by majority vote. In case of equality of votes, it is assumed that the party with the chairman has the majority.

MINIMUM WAGE IS MELT

The raises given to workers, civil servants and retirees at the beginning of July, including those given on a pro-rata basis, evaporated in the face of inflation. The raises that were literally spoon-fed in salaries in July were scooped back through taxes and price increases. Due to the high inflation experienced in the last 4 months since July, the lowest minimum wage earner lost 3 thousand 93 liras, the lowest retired worker lost 3 thousand 850 liras, and the lowest retired civil servant lost 2 thousand 348 liras.

The total cost of the minimum wage to the employer is 15 thousand 762 lira and 4 kuruş for one worker. Of this, 13 thousand 414 liras and 50 cents are gross minimum wage, 2 thousand 79 liras and 25 cents are social security premiums, and 268 liras and 29 cents are employer unemployment insurance premiums.
