The minimum wage will be reshaped for 2024, and millions of citizens are looking for an answer to the question “how much will it be?” The Minimum Wage Determination Commission will hold its first meeting in December. While the hunger line is expected to reach 15 thousand liras by the end of the year, the minimum wage is expected to be slightly above the hunger line.
The minimum wage has virtually evaporated due to high inflation and exchange rate. Due to the high inflation experienced in the last 4 months since July, the lowest minimum wage lost 3 thousand 93 lira. It is expected that the minimum wage meeting dates will be determined as of next week.
HOW MUCH WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE BE?
What the minimum wage will be has not been determined yet, but it is expected to be slightly above the hunger line.
According to the calculation made by TÜRK-İŞ, the monthly food expenditure (hunger limit) that a family of four living in Ankara must make in order to have a healthy, balanced and adequate diet increased to 13,684 TL in October.

WHEN WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE BE DECLARED?
The minimum wage will be determined as a result of the meetings to be held in December with the participation of workers, employers and Ministry representatives.
The minimum wage is determined by the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which consists of 15 people, including five representatives from workers, employers and the government, as required by law. The Commission meets four times in December, as per custom, within the scope of its efforts to determine the new minimum wage.
The commission, chaired by one of the members determined by the Ministry, meets with the participation of at least 10 members and decides by majority vote. In case of equality of votes, it is assumed that the party with the chairman has the majority.
MINIMUM WAGE IS MELT
The raises given to workers, civil servants and retirees at the beginning of July, including those given on a pro-rata basis, evaporated in the face of inflation. The raises that were literally spoon-fed in salaries in July were scooped back through taxes and price increases. Due to the high inflation experienced in the last 4 months since July, the lowest minimum wage earner lost 3 thousand 93 liras, the lowest retired worker lost 3 thousand 850 liras, and the lowest retired civil servant lost 2 thousand 348 liras.
