İTO, TÜSİAD, TOBB… Election comments from the business world – Last Minute Economy News

The local elections in Turkey, which resulted in the victory of the opposition, also created an impact in the business world. Emphasizing the period without elections, the business world stated that economic policies should continue.

Here are the comments of business representatives…

Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) President Şekib Avdagiç said, “As the business world, we believe that Turkey should focus on the economic program being implemented after this election.”

In his post on the social media platform X, Avdagiç evaluated the results of the 31 March Local Government General Elections.

Avdagiç said that Turkey left behind another election with common sense and democratic maturity. Wishing that the election results would be beneficial for Istanbul, our country and our nation, Avdagiç congratulated the elected mayors.

ICOC President Şekib Avdagiç stated that, as the business world, they believe that Turkey should focus on the economic program being implemented after this election and continued as follows:

“The period ahead should be evaluated very well for a permanent, sustainable and rational struggle against many problems, especially inflation and the implementation of structural reforms. In this way, Turkey, where conflicts and wars are rampant around, will continue to be a safe haven with its stronger economy and democracy.

“As the business world, we will continue to invest, produce, export and employ with all our strength, with the awareness of our responsibility.”

TÜSİAD made a statement after the March 31 Local Elections. The statement included the following statements:

We have left behind local government elections, one of the basic elements of democracy. We congratulate our mayors and local administrators who will begin their duties.

We wish local governments success in their efforts to improve the quality of life for all our citizens in cities, good governance and effective service delivery. We hope that this will be a period in which cooperation between the central government and local governments is strengthened in all matters, especially disaster management.

After the local elections, we must work together to achieve the goal of a more developed, respected, fair and environmentally friendly Turkey by rapidly focusing on structural reforms that will strengthen our economy, democracy and legal system.

ISO President Erdal Bahçıvan also gave the message to focus on the economy in his statement on his X account.

The gardener stated:

Our country completed the Local Election process with an exemplary democratic culture and maturity. As I have stated several times, elections are a relay race. It is pleasing and very valuable for our democracy that today’s relay race took place peacefully, apart from some isolated incidents. Unfortunately, due to the election, the pace of the economy and reforms in this field was not at the desired level. It is now necessary to focus urgently on the economy and the problems. I hope that the Local Election results will be beneficial for our country, especially Istanbul. I congratulate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was re-elected as the Mayor of Istanbul, Turkey’s star city, and wish him success in his work.

Evaluating the March 31, 2024 Local Government General Elections, Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “May the election be beneficial to our country and nation.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu included the following statements in his statement:

“The March 31, 2024 Local Government General Elections have been completed. May the results be beneficial to our country and our nation. First of all, I would like to thank everyone who went to the ballot box and cast their votes, protecting the future of our country and democracy. I congratulate the elected Mayors. With the local elections behind us, a 4-year period without elections It is an important opportunity for our country.

There are many steps to be taken and work to be done in the economy. We must focus on fighting inflation with all our strength. The fight against inflation will be more successful in the coordination of monetary and fiscal policies. Price stability and financial stability and predictability will be strengthened. Thus, investments with high technology content and added value will increase.

It is also important to preserve the production power of our country and not to damage the sustainability of companies. We must take effective and determined steps regarding structural reforms. Reforms await us in many areas such as vocational training, employment policies, tax reform, increasing the operational efficiency of the judiciary, strengthening the institutional infrastructure, increasing the earthquake resistance of our cities, creating new industrial basins, bringing key technologies to our country, and preparing our country for green and digital transformation.

Now, regardless of our political views, it is time to respect our nation’s decision and walk towards our bright future in unity and solidarity with 86 million hands and minds.

In the first century of our Republic, we reached the top league in product and market diversity. Now, in its second century, it is time to work harder for a more peaceful, happier and more prosperous Turkey. “As the business world, we will work for more production, investment, employment and exports.”
