“Seventeen years I have been trying to convince the department to offer a Loire stand at the international agricultural show and finally we have succeeded,” exclaims Raymond Vial, president of the Chamber of Agriculture. “We have been working on the subject for five years to overcome all administrative obstacles,” replies Véronique Chaverot, vice-president in charge of tourism at the departmental council.
But this time, here we are. 2024 will therefore see a Loire stand, installed in hall 7 of the show, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regional area. The Department invested 180,000 euros to offer this showcase to farmers, but also to offer more visibility to the department.
Around twenty producers will be on the trip
Each year, the international agricultural show welcomes more than 600,000 visitors. It is also one of the largest French meetings for professionals and elected officials from the agricultural world.
Chantal Brosse, vice-president in charge of agriculture, worked extensively on this project: “In 2023 again, Loire farmers won 27 medals at the show, including many gold. It was disappointing to see our award-winning products without being able to be present in Paris. The objective of this first participation is to highlight the food sectors, terroirs and heritage of the department, as well as its many tourist assets.”
Around twenty producers will be on the trip and numerous activities will be offered to bring the stand to life.
Raymond Vial recalls that “the Loire department has many young farmers. We are the 4the youngest department at the national level. Every year we settle around a hundred young people and 40% of them do not come from the agricultural world. On the other hand, one in three young people offer direct sales. This stand will be, for them, a real opportunity to seek out new markets, outside our Loire borders.”
“We will also find a reference to Casino”
Georges Ziegler, president of the Department, is also very pleased to announce this first edition: “Agriculture is very important to us. It is the substrate of our territory, where everything is born, where everything begins, where everything comes from. All our best products will be present: our easy-drinking wines that make you love life, the Fourme de Montbrison best cheese in the world, the andouille de Charlieu which makes the finest gourmets intelligent, and everything else… In the Loire we stay too ” beauseigne”, when we have real gems. This is all we want to show at the show.”
He adds: “On the stand we will also find a reference to Casino. In these difficult times, we cannot forget this great company born in the Loire.”
