In 2022, the trade turnover between Russia and Egypt increased by 30%, exceeding $6 billion, said Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, transmits TASS.

“Last year is a plus of 30% by 2021, this bar has already exceeded $6 billion. But we expect to continue progressive growth, including through the import from Egypt of those products in which colleagues are interested, primarily agricultural products,” – Manturov told reporters following a meeting of the Russian-Egyptian commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation.

According to him, during the talks, the parties also paid attention to the use of national currencies in mutual settlements between countries. “Our finance ministries and central banks are finding the best options to secure payments for our economic operators, primarily using the currencies of the two countries and friendly countries,” the Deputy Prime Minister added.

In early March, Russian President Vladimir Putin spent telephone conversations with Egyptian President Abdelfattah Sisi. “In the context of ensuring global food security, Vladimir Putin outlined Russian approaches to the package of Istanbul agreements on the export of Ukrainian grain from the Black Sea ports and the export of food and fertilizer from Russia to world markets, emphasizing the need for their comprehensive implementation,” the Kremlin press service reported.
