Anafricthe Spanish meat association, has shown its “most absolute support for the different demands of the Spanish agricultural sector, which are collapsing the country’s roads and cities, by consider them “fair” and that they reveal the “difficult situation that the Spanish countryside experiences”, according to a statement.
“Our primary sector is at a critical moment and the mobilizations are a symptom of demand for some fair conditions and prices“, indicated the president of Anafric, José Friguls.
In this way, from Anafric they have explained some of the demands of the agricultural sector such as excessive bureaucracy or the prices of products, which in the case of meat are going down and have to compete with products from third countries.
Unfair competition in the meat sector
“It is a unfair competitionbecause the European product has traceability, meets European standards of sustainability and animal welfare and also the production fights against climate change by implementing environmental protection measures,” said Friguls.
Importance of the primary sector
The meat sector also warns of impact that drought can have. “We have been explaining actively and passively for some time that the primary sector is essential. That there must be an orderly transition and that all meat, fruit and grain that arrive in the EU must go through the same controls to avoid unfair competition. We “We are playing our future. If there is no primary sector in Spain or Europe, what can we aspire to?” he stressed.
