Metropolis of Lyon. The Metropolis gives the green light for construction in these Rhône municipalities

During the recent permanent commission on November 20, the Métropole de Lyon took measures to shape a more balanced and environmentally friendly urban landscape. The announcement of the opening to urbanization of 96 hectares, 60% of which are already urbanized, marks the start of a major urban renewal initiative.

Objective ? Reconcile the strengthening of the housing supply and economic development with the preservation of natural resources. Concretely, 71 hectares will be rezoned into agricultural or natural zones.

This measure aims to preserve biodiversity, agricultural land and drinking water resources, as part of a global approach to environmental protection.

Social housing, sports facilities and digital campus

In detail, in Saint-Didier-au-Mont d’Or, social housing will be created on 1.7 hectares, while the rest of the Favril sector will be preserved as a landscaped valley. At Tour-de-Salvagny, 9 hectares will be dedicated to economic activities at La Poterie, preserving the rest of the area for agriculture or natural spaces.

In Villeurbanne, 7 hectares will be open to urbanization for sports facilities in the Feyssine sector. In Charbonnières-les-Bains, 9 hectares will allow the extension of a digital campus as well as the creation of housing and a college.
