Satya Nadella hired Sam Altman. With a post on X.com the Microsoft CEO announced that the former number one of OpenAI. Together with Altman, the founder of the company that created ChatGpt, Greg Brockman, will work at Microsoft.
Altman was fired from OpenAI last Friday. A decision that came suddenly after the board of directors declared that it “no longer has confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI”. After a weekend of negotiations to bring Altman back to OpenAI, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that both Sam Altman and Greg Brockman will join to lead Microsoft’s new advanced AI research team.
“We are extremely excited to share the news that Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, along with their colleagues, will be joining Microsoft to lead a new advanced AI research team,” Nadella wrote in his post. “We look forward to moving quickly to provide them with the resources necessary for their success.”
Also on X, Altman relaunched Nadella’s post, commenting: “The mission continues.” A confirmation of fact. Brockman also commented on the move by Microsoft’s number one: «We will build something new and it will be incredible». Nadella responded by providing some insight into how he sees Altman’s role at Microsoft. “Over the years, we’ve learned a lot about giving founders and innovators the space to build independent identities and cultures within Microsoft, including GitHub, Mojang Studios, and LinkedIn, and I can’t wait for you to do the same.” .
