New radar system for Istanbul Airport

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said that 3 planes can land and take off at the same time at Istanbul Airport. Uraloğlu stated that the special radar system to be put into operation will enable this.

Uraloğlu said, “With the implementation of the application, it will ensure the safe and fast flow of air traffic at Istanbul Airport.” Noting that there are requests from foreign airline companies to use Istanbul Airport, Minister Uraloğlu said, “There are around 80 percent of Turkish Airlines at Istanbul Airport. We want to increase the diversity here. There is also demand. We want to attract other airlines as well. THY is a very serious brand. In 2023, 77 million passengers arrived at Istanbul Airport and 23 million passengers arrived at Sabiha Gökçen. “There were people who said crows fly at Istanbul Airport,” he said.

Minister Uraloğlu signaled that traffic at Istanbul Airport will become even more intense. Uraloğlu said: “Work on the implementation of independent triple parallel runway operations started in 2022. This system exists only in America in the world. “It will be the first airport in Europe.”

Emphasizing that the YHT line will be extended to Şırnak’s Ovaköy Border Gate for the Development Road Project that will extend from the Persian Gulf FAW Port to Turkey, Uraloğlu said, ‘We will complete the project by 2028. “The rail system will extend to Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa Ovaköye,” he said.
