The meetings with the social partners are over

On 18 September, the last of the four meetings scheduled between the social partners and the Observatory on social security spending established by the Meloni government was held to evaluate the feasibility of the social security measures and decide which ones cannot be postponed. The four meetings were defined by the secretary of the CGIL, Maurizio Landini, as «fake, nothing was discussed. No resources are being put in”. And in fact, the major pension reform, which the government was talking about until a few months ago, has now disappeared from the discussion precisely because, as was easy to imagine, there is no money. Therefore, now the executive would be trying to identify the priorities, that is, those that have a good chance of moving from the announcement phase to the implementation phase. The main topic of the meeting on 18 September concerned the audience of those under 35 and, more generally, of all those who started working after the entry into force of the contributory system for calculating pensions (since 1996, for for those who have no previous contributions, the pension is calculated on the basis of the amount paid and no longer on the basis of the last salary, as in the salary system). Let’s see what the hypotheses the government technicians are working on.
