Prime Minister: the cost of the programs we announced is about PLN 26 billion

The programs we have announced represent an additional cost of approx. PLN 26 billion for the budget, primarily the indexation of 500+ to 800+, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Monday in Polsat News when asked about the cost of the solutions announced over the weekend.

The Prime Minister was asked “how much all social programs or their increases will cost”, which were announced over the weekend during the PiS convention.

“The ones we have announced so far will cost about PLN 26 billion additionally. This is primarily the valorization of 500 plus to the level of 800 plus, but it is worth noting that this is significantly above inflation since the introduction of this program (…) 60 percent. this is much more than the eight-year inflation counting even at the end of this year about 46 percent.” Morawiecki said.

He said that additional PLN 26 billion will be financed primarily from economic growth and tax tightening. He pointed out that thanks to the implemented measures, much more tax revenues began to flow into the budget. “From PLN 123 billion to approx. PLN 290 billion this year, this is VAT and from approx. PLN 33 billion to PLN 90 billion CIT.”

During the weekend convention “Programowy Street of Law and Justice”, PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński announced that from the new year the 500 plus child benefit will be raised to PLN 800, and free medicines will be introduced for people over 65 and for children and adolescents under 18 He also announced the abolition of tolls for passenger cars on state highways as soon as possible, and in the future also on private ones.
