At the opening, BIST 100 index increased by 19.36 points and 0.22 percent compared to the previous closing, reaching 8,862.37 points.
The banking index increased by 0.09 percent and the holding index increased by 0.32 percent. Among the sector indices, the biggest gainer was communication with 0.58 percent, while the biggest loser was insurance with 5.22 percent.
Yesterday, the BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul, which followed a selling trend and ended the longest rising series since November 2022 with 10 consecutive days, completed the day at 8,843.01 points with a loss of 0.29 percent. The index reached its highest level at 8,939.72 points.
Analysts stated that in global equity markets, despite the uncertainties regarding the future policies of central banks, the fact that corporate profits continued to exceed expectations during the busy balance sheet period diminished the perception of risk.
Stating that all eyes in the country are on the first “Inflation Report” meeting of the new Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT), Fatih Karahan, analysts said that the signals to be received from the Inflation Report and Karahan’s statements may increase volatility in the markets.
Analysts stated that today, in addition to the Inflation Report in the country, weekly money and bank statistics, and abroad, weekly unemployment benefit applications and wholesale stocks data in the USA will be followed, and from a technical perspective, 8,890 and 9,000 points in the BIST 100 index are resistance, 8,750 and 8,620 points. He noted that the levels are in support position.
