The economic crisis is deepening! Citizens are left in need of social assistance

The economic crisis created by the government condemned millions of citizens to poverty. In Turkey, all citizens from age 7 to 77 were obliged to receive social aid.

According to the news of Mustafa Bildircin from Birgün, almost all official data regarding social aid, especially the data of the Ministry of Family and Social Affairs, reveal the deep poverty in Turkey.

THE DATA REVEALED THE STUNNING TRUTH

Data on social aid provided by Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) such as natural gas payment support, food, stationery, canteen and service fee aid revealed a striking truth.

It was determined that the number of people receiving social assistance, which was 130 thousand in 2019, when Mansur Yavaş was elected as the President of ABB, increased by 73 thousand in four years.

With the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic period, which caused the crisis in Turkey to deepen even further, the number of people receiving social assistance from ABB reached 203 thousand as of 2023.

In the capital, the increase in the number of people receiving social assistance from the municipality in the 2019-2023 period was 56 percent.

ABB meets the needs of citizens in financial difficulties such as food, cleaning materials, fuel, bread, education (boots-coats, bags, stationery). There are a total of 36 social assistance application centers in the capital.

INCREASED BY 400 THOUSAND IN 3 MONTHS

Social assistance data of the Ministry of Family and Social Services also reveals the size of the number of people suffering from extreme poverty in Turkey.

The number of people suffering from extreme poverty and covered by the Ministry’s Family Support Program is listed by month as follows:

• April: 3.3 million households

• May: 3.5 million households

• June: 3.5 million households

• July: 3.7 million households
