First Deputy Chairman of the Commission of the Public Chamber of Russia for the Development of the Information Community, Media and Mass Communications Alexander Malkevich called on Roskomnadzor to unblock social network X in the Russian Federation. In his opinion, the social network under the new leadership has become “quite a progressive platform,” reports TASS.
“We at the Public Chamber propose that Roskomnadzor unblock Twitter (renamed X.— “Kommersant”). The ideology and politics of this social network have changed a long time ago, but we still put a spoke in its wheels. We ask Roskomnadzor to reconsider its decision regarding this network,” Mr. Malkevich told the agency.
The deputy chairman of the OP commission called for giving the social network a “second chance.” He stated that the Russian authorities will convey “their truth and view of the West” through this platform. He recalled that X published an interview of Russian President Vladimir Putin with American journalist Tucker Carlson.
Earlier today, February 9, State Duma Deputy Speaker and presidential candidate from the New People party Vladislav Davankov sent a letter to the head of Roskomnadzor Andrey Lipov with a proposal to unblock the social network X in Russia. He noted that the publication of the president’s interview on this social network confirms its “neutrality in terms of disseminating information.”
Vladimir Putin’s interview with Tucker Carlson was recorded on February 6 and published tonight. More than 13 hours after its publication, it gained social network X has more than 100 million views.
