The government’s minimum wage plan! ‘Target inflation’ propaganda in salaries

While the citizens who were condemned to high inflation were waiting for the minimum wage increase in January, the government started to propagate inflation in salaries.
According to TURKSTAT data in October, annual inflation increased by 61.53 percent, while according to ENAG data, which is independently created by academics and economists, the 12-month increase reached 126.18 percent.
UNION WAS MADE
However, the government and the business world’s unanimity to voice an increase in the minimum wage according to the target inflation is causing reactions.
Speaking to Bloomberg HT, Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) President Åžekib Avdagiç said regarding the minimum wage: “The minimum wage should be determined in a way that does not disrupt the balance established by taking into account the current policies and targeted inflation. In this field, of course, it does not disrupt the balance of the market as well as the expectations of the employees.” “A decision must be made,” he said.
In the past months, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet ÅžimÅŸek made a statement regarding salary regulations: “From now on, wage regulations will be made according to the target inflation.”
INFLATION RATES TARGETED BY THE GOVERNMENT
So, what is the target inflation rate that the government is talking about?
In the Medium Term Program announced by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, the expected inflation rate for the end of 2023 is predicted to be 65 percent.
The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) determined the inflation forecast for the end of 2023 as 65 percent.
Former CBRT Chief Economist and Bilkent University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Hakan Kara stated that the increase in the minimum wage would not be fair if the target was determined according to inflation.

“THE GOAL OF THE GOVERNMENT IS TO POVERT US”
Arzu ÇerkezoÄŸlu, Chairman of the Revolutionary Trade Union Confederation (DİSK), who marched from Istanbul to Ankara with the slogan ‘Justice in taxes, justice in income’, emphasized that the main goal of the government is to impoverish the citizens.
Stating that the order in the country is based on making the rich even richer, Çerkezoğlu said:
“Such a system, an order, has been established in the country that all the wheels of this order turn to make the rich richer and the poor poorer. All the wheels of the system turn to take from the poor and give it to the rich. The goal of the whole government, through income, wage, interest and tax policies, is to make us more wealthy.” To impoverish us. This is why we are marching. We are marching to change this unfair order, this order that makes the rich richer and the poor poorer, this order that reaches into our pockets and constantly impoverishes us. Because we know that this heavy situation we are living in is not a coincidence. It is the power of the government that rules the country. It is the result of economic policies, choices, class and political preferences. However, the exact opposite of this difficult situation we live in is possible. The total value that we all produce by working in this country is more than enough to keep the 85 million people, workers, laborers, retirees, women and young people of this country living humanely. “
