The number of buildings issued with building permits increased in the 3rd quarter

Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the Building Permit Statistics as of the third quarter of the year, covering the months of July, August and September.
Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the number of buildings, the number of flats and the surface area of ​​the structures issued by municipalities in the third quarter of 2023 increased by 24.9 percent, 35 percent and 21.7 percent, respectively.
2023 III. by municipalities. While the total surface area of ​​the buildings for which building permits were issued in the quarter was 39.1 million m²; Of this, 21.0 million m² was residential, 10.0 million m² was non-residential and 8.1 million m² was common use areas.
The highest area share was in buildings with two or more flats, with 64.7 percent
2023 III. by municipalities. Residential buildings with two or more flats had the highest surface area share according to the purpose of use of the buildings for which building permits were issued in the quarter, with 25.3 million m². This was followed by one-flat buildings with 3.5 million m².

Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, 2023 III. In the quarter, the number of buildings for which occupancy permits were issued by municipalities decreased by 13.7 percent, the number of apartments decreased by 14.9 percent and the surface area decreased by 14.0 percent.
