Messages from CBRT Deputy Governors Cevdet Akçay and Hatice Karahan supported the rise in the stock market and Borsa Istanbul 100 index exceeded 9000 points for the first time in its history. .
BIST 100 index started the day at 8993 points, gaining 0.48 percent in value; Afterwards, it continued to gain value and reached its historical peak of 9016 points.
The banking index increased by 0.25 percent and the holding index increased by 0.49 percent. Among the sector indices, the biggest gainer was financial leasing factoring with 1.24 percent, while the only loser was insurance with 0.11 percent.
Yesterday, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index, which followed a buying-oriented trend, broke the closing record by completing the day at 8,949.79 points with a 1.21 percent gain in value. The index reached its highest level at 8,990.37 points.
Analysts said that risk appetite remained strong in global share markets, as the data announced in the USA pointed to a strong stance in the country’s economy, supporting “soft landing” scenarios, and company profitability around the world continued to exceed expectations.
INFLATION FORECAST AT THE END OF 2024 IS 36 PERCENT
Stating that the end-of-year inflation forecasts for 2024, 2025 and 2026 are maintained as in the previous report, Karahan noted that the end-of-2024 forecast is 36 percent and the end-of-2025 forecast is 14 percent.
Additionally, the Capital Markets Board (CMB) made regulations regarding inflation accounting. With the regulation, an additional period of 15 days was given for companies that will go public with 9-month balance sheets. The Board also reported that it approved the public offering of Limak Doğu Anadolu Çimento Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ.
Analysts stated that domestic industrial production and foreign inflation data will be followed today in Germany, and noted that technically, 9,000 and 9,140 points in the BIST 100 index are resistance, and 8,900 and 8,800 levels are support.
