37% OF COMPANIES HAVE MORE THAN 250 WORKERS

While 5.45 percent of the total employees are employed in facilities with 1-9 employees, 22.01 percent are 10-49, 13.50 percent are 50-99, 22.11 percent are 100-249, 36 percent are 10-49, 94 of them are employed in facilities with 250 or more employees. Facilities with between 10 and 250 employees have Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) status.

ISTANBUL BECAME THE LEADER WITH 785 THOUSAND EMPLOYMENT

According to valid reports, the 5 provinces with the highest employment were listed as Istanbul (785 thousand 501), Bursa (336 thousand 935), Izmir (266 thousand 274), Kocaeli (247 thousand 98) and Ankara (230 thousand 424). The last 5 provinces with the fewest employees were recorded as Iğdır (1112), Hakkari (751), Tunceli (635), Ardahan (539) and Bayburt (300). In the 2022-2023 period, the share of SME-scale industrial companies in employment decreased from 63.51 percent to 63.06 percent, while the share of large companies increased from 36.49 percent to 36.94 percent.

71 PERCENT OF 4 MILLION EMPLOYEES ARE BLUE COLLAR

Of the total employees, 5.20 percent were engineers, 4.54 percent were technicians, 6.25 percent were masters, 71.80 percent were workers, and 11.20 percent were administrative personnel. An average of 41.03 people work in industrial facilities. The city with the most employees per industrial facility was Çankırı, followed by Zonguldak, Bilecik, Bartın and Tekirdağ.

HIGH TECHNOLOGY PRODUCING COMPANIES INCREASED

In last year’s total, the rate of high-technology industrial facilities increased from 2.31 percent to 2.36 percent. The rate of industrial facilities within the scope of medium-high technology increased from 23.73 percent to 24.12 percent. The rate of industrial facilities within the scope of medium-low technology increased from 30.26 percent to 30.45 percent. The rate of industrial facilities within the scope of low technology decreased from 43.69 percent to 43.07 percent. Of the valid capacity reports, 2 thousand 569 were prepared for high technology products, 26 thousand 202 were prepared for medium-high technology, 33 thousand 85 were prepared for medium-low technology and 46 thousand 796 were prepared for low technology. The metal products manufacturing sector stood out the most in production, followed by food manufacturing, machinery manufacturing, textile manufacturing and plastic manufacturing.
