TURKSTAT: Producer inflation was 51.47 percent in March – Last Minute Economic News


Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) for the March 2024 period.

In March 2024, PPI (2003=100) increased by 3.29 percent compared to the previous month and 51.47 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

The increase in PPI was 11.59 percent compared to December of the previous year and 45.28 percent according to twelve-month averages.

An annual increase of 47.29 percent was recorded in PPI in February. Thus, it was seen that producer inflation continued to gain momentum in March.

THE HIGHEST INCREASE IS IN MINING AND QUARRYING

Looking at the annual changes in the four sectors of the industry; There was a 71.19 percent increase in mining and quarrying, a 58.92 percent increase in manufacturing, an 18.92 percent decrease in electricity and gas production and distribution, and a 66.23 percent increase in water supply.

On a monthly basis, there was a 3.35 percent increase in mining and quarrying, a 3.46 percent increase in manufacturing, a 1.43 percent increase in electricity and gas production and distribution, and a 2.64 percent increase in water supply.

CHANGE OF MAIN INDUSTRIAL GROUPS

Annual changes of main industry groups; It was 53.84 percent increase in intermediate goods, 63.73 percent increase in durable consumer goods, 64.44 percent increase in non-durable consumer goods, 11.55 percent increase in energy and 68.11 percent increase in capital goods.

Monthly changes of main industry groups; There was a 3.45 percent increase in intermediate goods, a 3.43 percent increase in durable consumer goods, a 4.31 percent increase in non-durable consumer goods, a 0.70 percent increase in energy and a 3.37 percent increase in capital goods.
