Users reported a massive outage of banned Meta services – Kommersant


Users of Meta services (recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) report large-scale failures in the WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram applications (owned by Meta, banned in the Russian Federation), follows from Downdetector data. In total, more than 30 thousand people around the world reported failures of social networking applications.

About failures of WhatsApp (owned by Meta, banned in the Russian Federation) as of 9:25 Moscow time reported more than 22 thousand people. Users from Europe complain the most about the messenger. According to Downdetector, 70% of users complain about the application interface, 25% about receiving messages, 6% about the website.

Failure of Facebook (owned by Meta, banned in the Russian Federation) fixed 1.8 thousand users. 69% of them complain about the social network application, 35% about the website. About problems with Instagram (owned by Meta, banned in the Russian Federation) reported 5.3 thousand people. The application malfunctions for 65% of users, the feed does not update for 28% of users, and 7% have problems logging into their accounts.

Meta (recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) did not comment on the failures. RBC with reference to the press service of Roskomnadzor (RKN), reported that the Russian agency does not block the operation of WhatsApp in Russia. According to RKN, the problem is related to a failure within the organization’s infrastructure.
