The Monetary Policy Committee meeting will be held on Thursday, November 23, under the chairmanship of Central President Hafize Gaye Erkan. The interest rate decision will be made after the meeting. at 14.00 will be announced.

WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS OF THE CBRT’S INTEREST RATE DECISION?

While 21 economists participating in Reuters’ survey expect an increase in the policy rate at 35 percent, estimates are in the range of 37.5 percent to 40 percent. According to the survey, 16 economists expect an increase of 250 basis points in the policy rate, three economists expect a 500 basis point increase, one economist expects a 350 basis point increase and one economist expects a 300 basis point increase.

Economists participating in AA Finance’s expectations survey regarding the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting estimate that the one-week repo auction interest rate (policy rate) will be increased by 250 basis points to 37.50 percent.

AA Finans’ expectation survey for the CBRT’s Monetary Policy Committee (PPK) meeting to be held on Thursday, November 23, resulted with the participation of 12 economists.

The median of economists’ expectations regarding the change in the policy rate was an increase of 250 basis points.

According to the survey results, economists’ policy rate expectations, which predicted an increase of 250 to 500 basis points, varied between 37.50 percent and 40.00 percent.

The median of economists’ year-end policy rate expectations was 40.00 percent.

At the MPC meeting held last month, the policy rate was increased by 500 basis points from 30 percent to 35 percent.
