The owner of the social network X, Elon Musk, said that the company will file a “thermonuclear” lawsuit on Monday against all companies that caused major advertisers to stop working with the social network due to anti-Semitic statements on the platform. He reported this on his account X.
Elon Musk considered the investigation conducted by the non-profit organization Media Matters for America a “fraudulent attack on the company.” He warned that X Corp would file a lawsuit on Monday against Media Matters for America and all the companies involved. He believes that companies are influencing advertisers of social network X so that they stop cooperating with it, the social network’s income has decreased and it has revised its policies regarding freedom of speech.
Following the release of the Media Matters for America investigation, Warner Bros., Walt Disney, Lionsgate, Paramount, Sony Pictures, IBM and Apple refused from further advertising on social networks. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Mr. Musk previously named Disney and Apple as the platform’s largest advertisers.
The company’s investigation indicates that the social network does not block posts that, for example, speak positively about Adolf Hitler. Advertising from major brands can be automatically placed next to such posts.
