YHTs broke a record with the number of passengers during the break


Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, in his written statement, after the 9-day midterm holiday that started on Friday, November 10th; announced the data on the number of passengers who prefer high-speed trains in their travels. Uraloğlu stated that passenger demand for high-speed trains, as well as Marmaray and Başkentray, increased in record numbers.

Uraloğlu, through the General Directorate of TCDD Transportation, with direct and combined transportation with YHT bus and YHT train connections on Ankara-Eskişehir, Ankara-İstanbul, Ankara-Konya, Ankara-Sivas, Ankara-Karaman, Konya-İstanbul, Karaman-İstanbul, Eskişehir-İstanbul lines. He stated that 80 million 130 thousand 856 passengers and an average of 40 thousand passengers per day have been served so far by high-speed trains reaching many cities. In his statement, Minister Uraloğlu stated that this number increased due to the mid-term holiday and new records were broken on some lines of high-speed trains.

Uraloğlu, since the Eskişehir-Istanbul Express YHT services started on September 10, 2022; Stating that approximately 371 thousand passengers were transported, he stated that after the 9-day mid-term break, the average number of passengers increased from 881 to 1,189.

In his statement, Uraloğlu stated that the number of passengers during the mid-term holiday increased from 1,969 to 2,372 on the Ankara-Karaman line, from 4,852 to 6,301 on the Konya-Istanbul line, and from 16,011 to 17,777 on the Ankara-Istanbul route. He announced that the same increases occurred in Marmaray and Başkentray.

Uraloğlu stated that Marmaray, the main backbone of Istanbul transportation, has transported 1 billion 2 million 617 thousand 736 people to date. Uraloğlu stated that 712 thousand 766 passengers were transported by Marmaray in one day due to the mid-term break and Marmaray broke the record.

Minister Uraloğlu noted that a total of 78 million 588 thousand 658 people have been transported in Başkentray, which is integrated with other transportation modes in Ankara, since the day it started service. Pointing out that the average daily passenger number in Başkentray increased due to the mid-term holiday, Uraloğlu announced that the daily passenger number increased from 57 thousand 721 to 78 thousand 177.
