‘PRICES ARE LOOKING AT LAST YEAR’
Evaluating the rate of sacrificial ovine and bovine animals in 2023, Turkish Butchers Federation President Osman Yardimci stated that the number of animals is sufficient.
Indicating that there are 20 million bovine and 64 million ovine animals in Turkey, Yardimci drew attention to meat prices. Stating that the prices are normal, the Vice President said that the live weight price of sheep and cattle sacrifices is between 140-160 TL.
The assistant said, “The prices are a little bit higher than last year. Prices have increased due to feed and livestock costs, but it is not abnormal. No meat last year interest It didn’t happen. Just got a 100 percent raise. In the market, live sheep and goats are between 140-160 TL and cattle are between 150-160 TL,” he said.
MINIMUM 84 THOUSAND LIRA
In addition to the kilogram prices, Osman Yardimci announced the minimum amount that will come out to buy a sacrifice from the pocket of the citizen.
Indicating that the qurban markets will start to be established in the near future, Yarım said, “If you try to buy a ram, it is 7-8 thousand TL in the worst case, and the share price of the cattle varies between 12-15 thousand TL at least. Considering that the cattle sacrifices are 7 shares, the price of a cattle sacrifice will be a minimum of 84 thousand TL this year,” he said.
Noting that meat prices are normal according to market conditions and that the citizens should not believe the speculations made before the Eid al-Adha, Osman Yardimci said that this problem can be eliminated by supporting family businesses.
Noting that family businesses are supported in Europe, Yavaş added that this method should be supported by the government as quickly as possible. (DHA)
