Making a series of statements after the cabinet meeting, AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the new economic package. Referring to 3 stages, Erdoğan first underlined ‘public savings’.
Erdogan, “Increasing savings in the public sector, prioritizing investments and accelerating structural reforms. “The way we can strengthen our growth potential is by increasing efficiency and competition and focusing on high added value,” he said.
THE OPPOSITION TARGETED IN THE CABLE CAR ACCIDENT
Targeting the opposition regarding the cable car accident in Antalya, Erdoğan said:
“We were all heartbroken by the cable car disaster. In this tragic accident, 174 of our people were trapped in the cabins for hours. As a result of the intense efforts of AFAD and our armed forces, we rescued all 174 of our citizens with the evacuation operation that lasted 23 hours. I would like to thank more than 2,200 personnel who continued the rescue efforts. Our judiciary took action and prepared a preliminary report regarding the negligence and fault in the incident. 5 people were arrested within the scope of the investigation. Unfortunately, the efforts of the main opposition party leaders to dilute the incident and protect those responsible from the very first moment of the incident did not go unnoticed in the fire disaster in Beşiktaş. We saw that 29 of our working brothers lost their lives in the heart of Istanbul. There was no significant reaction from either the unions or the opposition front. Those who ran to Van, supposedly in the name of rights, law and justice, did not take a single step for the workers who lost their lives in Beşiktaş. “We will do our part to hold the perpetrators of the murders in both Antalya and Beşiktaş accountable.”
