Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said that the first prototype of the Russian single-engine fighter Checkmate could be created before the end of 2025. According to him, some countries have already shown interest in purchasing this fighter.

“I expect that this will happen before the end of 2025,” said Mr. Manturov in response to a question about when it is planned to create the first sample of the Checkmate fighter.

According to Denis Manturov, at the request of foreign customers, the aircraft’s layout, control systems and aircraft weapons were improved. Speaking about the emergence of foreign partners in the project, he said that “such ideas and proposals” are on the agenda, but that in the near future the aircraft will be produced in Russia.

The Checkmate light tactical single-engine aircraft, developed by Sukhoi, was presented at the MAKS-2021 air show. The presentation abroad took place for the first time at the Dubai Airshow 2021 in the UAE. The aircraft is made using stealth technology. It has an intra-fuselage compartment for air-to-air and air-to-surface weapons.
