Adani Total’s LNG terminal at Odisha’s Dhamra to be commissioned by end of May

New Delhi : The Rs 6,000 crore LNG terminal at Dhamra in Odisha, built by Adani Group and French company Total Energies, will start commercial operations by the end of May. French company Total Energy said in a statement released on Monday that this terminal with an annual capacity of 5 million tonnes has been constructed for the import of LNG. Last April 1, the first consignment of LNG from abroad arrived in this terminal. Qatar’s ship ‘Milah Ras Lafan’ reached Dhamra with 2.6 lakh crore BTU (British Thermal Unit) natural gas in frozen form.

The use of natural gas from Qatar will start in May

The statement issued by the French company Total Energy said that the Qatari vessel ‘Millah Ras Lafan’ will use 2.6 trillion BTU (British Thermal Unit) of natural gas in frozen form to start commercial operation of the terminal by the end of May. Will be done. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is used in steel making and fertilizer production. It is also converted into CNG and LPG.

Dhamra Terminal is the only terminal on the east coast of India.

Karan Adani, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Adani Ports and SEZ had already informed Dhamra Terminal about receiving the first consignment of gas. He also described it as a major step in providing access to clean and affordable energy and making the country carbon-free. Adani Total Private Limited will operate this LNG terminal, which is a joint venture between Total Energies and Adani Group. Dhamra is the only LNG import terminal built on the east coast of the country, while there are five terminals on the west coast.

Tested on 1st April

According to the information given by the officials, Adani Total Pvt Ltd carried out safety checks and tests for the use of natural gas consignment that arrived from Qatar on 1 April. Adani Group and Total Energy SE – both have 50-50 percent stake in Adani Total Private Limited.
