Alphabet may acquire HubSpot – Kommersant

Alphabet is considering acquiring HubSpot, a US-based developer of software for marketing, sales and customer service. This is reported by Reuters with reference to sources.

HubSpot, founded in 2006, has a market capitalization of about $32 billion. Alphabet officials have been meeting with Morgan Stanley bankers over the past few days to discuss a possible acquisition offer. In particular, Alphabet management wanted to understand the approximate amount it should offer HubSpot and whether there was a chance of completing this transaction, given the tightening control of American regulators over transactions in the technology sector.

Let us remind you that an antitrust lawsuit is being considered in Washington. filed US Department of Justice to Google in October 2020. Prosecutors from 11 other US states joined the lawsuit, filed in the District of Columbia court. It calls for “preventing Google from unlawfully maintaining a monopoly in the Internet search, search advertising, and general text search markets in the United States through anti-competitive and restrictive policies.”

So far, Alphabet has not made an offer to HubSpot, and it is not clear whether it will make one at all, agency sources say.

HubSpot ended 2023 with a net loss of $176.3 million on revenue of $2.2 billion. The company’s shares have risen in price by about one and a half times over the past 12 months.
