Belarus has banned the sale of all products of the Russian company Orimi, reported RBC Director of the company for corporate communications Maria Drabova. Orimi produces Greenfield, Tess, Princess Nuri, Princess Java, Pearl of the Nile, Gita, Shah, Princess Kandy teas, as well as Jardin and Jockey coffees.
On the eve of the Ministry of Health of Belarus reported on a ban on the sale in the country of four types of bagged tea produced in Russia. The trademarks in question were “Geeta” and “Princess Kandy”. The agency claims that their products contained excess mold content. Orimi called such a ban excessive and clarified that the violations could be the result of non-compliance with transportation or storage conditions. The company assures that its internal control system ensures compliance with safety requirements.
According to RBC, representatives of Orimi held consultations with the Belarusian Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health, and actions have already been agreed upon to lift the ban on the sale of the said tea in the republic. No details of the consultations are provided. On website “Orimi” says that the company is the largest Russian producer of tea and natural coffee.
According to Roschaykofe estimates, in 2023, tea consumption in Russia will remain at the level of 2022 – 134 thousand tons. The general director of the association, Ramaz Chanturia, said that the volume of the tea market in Russia is not growing, and the competition is extremely high.
