Boeing crisis: Stricter controls set back Boeing’s production

The US aircraft manufacturer Boeing As a result of stricter controls, handed over significantly fewer aircraft to customers in the first quarter of the year than a year ago. Delivered in the first quarter Boeing Only 66 copies of the much criticized 737 Max series were sold, according to company statistics. In the first quarter of 2023, the manufacturer delivered 111 machines in the series. Across all model series, 83 passenger and aircraft aircraft were delivered in the last quarter.

Boeing has been struggling for a long time serious quality problems. The US regulatory authority FAA has therefore published the production figures for the best-selling car Machine 737-Max throttled to the 2023 level. Boeing is allowed to produce 38 planes per month. The company had actually planned to have 50 machines from 2025.

Several plane breakdowns this year alone

The majority of the remaining deliveries, 13 jets, were of the long-haul model 787 Dreamliner. Because Boeing needs its capacity to solve the problems with other types, production of the wide-body jets from the 777 series is at a standstill. Meanwhile, the competitor of the world’s largest aircraft manufacturer, Airbus, received orders for 131 new aircraft in the first quarter, but had to cancel five of them.

Boeing has been in the worst crisis in the company’s history for more than five years. After two fatal crashes, the medium-haul 737-Max model was grounded worldwide for more than 20 months from March 2019. There have also been numerous breakdowns this year: In January, a Boeing 737-Max lost a cabin door cover, in March, a wheel came off during take-off of a Boeing 777, and last week the take-off of a 737 had to be aborted due to engine failure. On Sunday a Boeing 737 had to turn back because the engine cowling had come loose.

Meanwhile, the manufacturer’s production controlled by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).. This particularly costs time that is not available for production. In addition, Boeing is no longer allowed to expand production of the 737 Max series for the time being.
