Beijing (Uttam Hindu News): China’s communications industry remained generally stable from January to February, with the total volume of telecommunications business maintaining double-digit growth, according to information from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. China accounts for half the number of 5G users, and more than a quarter of gigabit users.

According to data, as of the end of February, the three basic telecommunications companies and China Broadnet have added a total of 1.746 billion mobile phone users, of which 5G users have reached 851 million, accounting for 48.8 percent. The three core telcos have added 643 million fixed access broadband users, including 172 million gigabit users, accounting for 26.7 percent. In terms of mobile data, as of the end of February, the cumulative data of China’s mobile Internet reached 48.76 billion GB, an increase of 16.6 percent over the same period last year.

From January to February, China’s three basic telecommunications companies achieved cumulative business revenue of 292.3 billion yuan, an increase of 4.3 percent over the same period last year. The total volume of telecommunications business increased by 14.4 percent. Among them, emerging businesses such as cloud computing and big data achieved revenue of 75.76 billion yuan, accounting for 25.9 percent of total revenue, an increase of 11.3 percent from last year.
