New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): A Delhi court on Friday ordered Bloomberg Television Production Services India Pvt Ltd (Bloomberg) to remove a defamatory article published against ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEE) on February 21.
Granting relief to Zee, Additional District Judge, Harjyot Singh Bhalla, said that a prima facie case is made out for passing an interim ex-parte order of injunction and directed Bloomberg to remove the defamatory article from its platform within a week of receiving the order. Gave.
Bloomberg is also barred from posting, broadcasting or publishing articles on any online or offline platform till the next date of hearing.
Zee argued in its lawsuit that the Bloomberg article which mentioned details related to Zee’s corporate governance and business operations was false in nature and led to a 15 percent decline in the company’s share price, causing losses to investors. It said the “false and factually incorrect” article was published with a premeditated and malicious intention to defame the company.
It said that the article wrongly states that the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has found discrepancies worth $241 million in the company’s accounting, whereas there is no such order from the said regulator.
Zee said that without the basis of any order from the regulator, the article falsely published news of financial irregularities in Zee, despite the company strongly denying it.
Zee’s counsel argued in the hearing on Wednesday that the company may suffer irreparable harm if the injunction is not granted as prayed.
