New Delhi: Biparjoy Cyclone, a powerful storm in the Arabian Sea, is going to hit the coast in Kutch, Gujarat today i.e. on Thursday. There is a possibility that this storm may hit the Kutch coast between 4 to 8 pm. During this, the speed of the storm will be 150 kmph. In view of the cyclonic storm, a red alert has been issued in the coastal areas of Saurashtra and Kutch in Gujarat. In the wake of this storm, there is a possibility of heavy destruction in the coastal areas. The economy is suffering huge losses due to Biperjoy. All industrial activities have come to a standstill in these areas. In view of the storm, the entire area has been evacuated. Kutch, which is called the Industrial Power House, has come to a complete standstill. More than 67 trains of the railway have been cancelled. Airlines have been stopped. More than 500 crore rupees are being lost every day due to this cyclonic storm.

The maximum effect of cyclonic storm Biparjoy is seen on the coastal areas of Kutch. There are more than 357 industries and factories in Kutch, where the work is completely closed due to this storm. In Kutch, where 357 big industries, including many big companies and 6700 MSMEs together do a business of 6.5 lakh crores. Due to this storm, the entire area has been evacuated. Due to which all the industries and businesses are closed and there is a loss of about 400-500 crore rupees daily.

Industries most affected

Due to this storm, the country’s two largest ports Kandla Port and Mundra Port have been completely closed. Due to the shutdown of operations at the port, the waiting period for transportation here has increased from 2 days to 15 days. Apart from the port, the salt manufacturing industries here have suffered heavy losses. This season is the peak season for the salt industries. In this season, 20 lakh tonnes of salt is produced there daily, but due to this storm the business has come to a standstill. Workers have been evacuated from the coastal areas there. And there is another concern. Many chemicals are locked in tankers at Kandla and Mundra ports. There is a possibility of damage to these chemicals in the storm.

Adani-Ambani’s work has also come to a halt. The livelihood of fishermen, port workers and oil rig workers has been affected due to the storm. Export-import of companies is getting affected. Reliance Industries has stopped export of diesel and other oil products from Sikka Port. The daily capacity of this port is 704,000 barrels. Adani Group has also stopped its operations in that area for the time being. Adani’s Mundra port has also been closed. It is the busiest container port in the country. Along with this, the oil ports of Vadinar and Sikka have also been closed. Operations at Kandla, Okha, Bedi, and Navlakhi ports also remained suspended.
