New Delhi: Amid ongoing layoffs in Big Tech companies, developers have emerged as the most sought-after role in India, especially those who can design, develop and maintain the front-end and back-end of web applications. Five out of 10 job roles are retained. This has been revealed in a report. Despite the layoffs, 15 of the top 20 titles in the country still have technology job roles, according to data from job portal Indeed.
The jobs that have seen the most growth since the pandemic are data engineer (353 percent), site reliability engineer (260 percent), assistant engineer (254 percent), application developer (235 percent) and cloud engineer (220 percent). Sashi Kumar, Head of Sales, Indeed India, said, “Overall, tech roles will continue to be the biggest recruiters this year. India is witnessing steady growth and the short-term effects of recession and layoffs are unlikely to impact the future of tech roles in the country.
He added that with increasing investment in IT and adoption of new-age emerging technologies, job roles in these sectors will also see growth this year. With big tech companies undergoing reform, other companies are looking to hire key technology talent. This is largely due to the fact that the tech sector has a larger number of jobs than any other. The high demand for technical skills in and outside the technology sector is good news for tech workers and a clear indication of where opportunities lie for individuals looking to start or change careers.
