Russia is sharply reducing the production of Sukhoi Superjet-100 aircraft. About this stated Yevgeny Romanov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Khabarovsk Region, at an extended meeting of the regional government. Instead of the planned 19 cars, only six will be built this year. The reason was the lack of imported components due to the economic sanctions imposed against Russia.

The Superjet-100 is assembled at the Irkut Corporation plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. According to Evgeny Romanov, the plant is currently working on a new Sukhoi Superjet-New model, which should consist of domestic components. It will use Russian-made PD-8 engines.

Romanov stated, that the first test flight of Superjet-New is scheduled for July 21. However, the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia denied this statement and reported that the meeting of the council on admission to the first flight of SSJ-NEW had not yet been held.

  • In April 2022, the Ministry of Transport of Russia prepared project comprehensive program for the development of the air transport industry until 2030. In June last year, it was approved by the Russian government. Project assumed implementation of the import substitution program under sanctions. In particular, by 2030, the aircraft fleet of Russian airlines must be replenished with 1,036 domestically produced aircraft for the needs of civil aviation.
