Energy Minister of Moldova: the republic expects a good price for gas from Gazprom

Moldova has not abandoned the idea of working with Gazprom; the republic is expecting a good price for gas purchases from the Russian company. About it stated the country’s Energy Minister Viktor Parlikov in an interview with the NewsMaker portal.
“I do not rule out that”Gazprom“will look for an opportunity to supply gas to Moldova, and to the right bank, but at the best prices. And we will have the opportunity to choose. <...> To date, we have not completely abandoned the idea that we will never purchase gas from Gazprom for the right bank,” the minister said.
Parlicov added that if Moldova is offered “a good price, and if this price is not associated with any political conditions, political risks in relations with the EU, then this [возобновление поставок] Maybe”.

Gazprom stated that Moldovagaz’s debt for gas supplied amounted to $433 million, and taking into account late payments – $709 million. On September 6, the Ministry of Energy of Moldova announced that the government of the republic, based on the results of an audit of Moldovagaz’s debt to Gazprom, considers it expedient to pay only $8.6 million out of the $709 million declared by the Russian company and proposes to Gazprom to write off the remaining amount.
