FAS will check the pricing of chicken eggs

FAS Russia will conduct an analysis of the validity of prices for chicken eggs; work in this area is already underway in the regions. About it reports press service of the department.

“On instructions from the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia, the territorial bodies of the service sent requests to companies producing chicken eggs about setting prices for their products,” the message says.

The service added that it sent requests to 10 federal retail chains to provide data on the dynamics of weighted average purchase and retail prices for chicken eggs every week.

Earlier today, Izvestia with reference to the secretariat of First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov reportedthat the Cabinet of Ministers instructed the Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Ministry of Agriculture to conduct an analysis of the feasibility of increasing prices for chicken eggs and explore the possibility of increasing their imports. The Ministry of Industry and Trade has been instructed to work to encourage manufacturers and retail chains to enter into long-term supply agreements in order to ensure predicted volumes and prices.

By data Rosstat, since the beginning of the year, egg prices have increased by 21.16%. For the week from October 31 to November 7, 2023, their value increased by 2.4%. It was noted that in 47 regions of the Russian Federation, eggs increased in price by 0.1-3%, in 35 regions – by 3.1-7.5%. Izvestia writes that in recent weeks prices for these products have increased in the Astrakhan, Volgograd, Sverdlovsk, Novosibirsk, Orenburg, Omsk, Rostov, Kaliningrad regions and other regions.
