Google gave notice to 4 Indian companies, IAMAI appealed not to delist

New Delhi: The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) on Friday advised Google not to delist any app related to Indian companies from the Play Store. Four domestic companies have received notices from the tech giant.

This reaction of the industry body comes after Google’s statement that at least 10 companies, including many big companies, have not paid for the significant value received on Google Play Store after getting interim protection from the court. Google said that it is preparing to remove these companies from the Google Play Store under the new policy.

“IAMAI confirms that at least four of its members have received notices from Google,” a statement said.

Internet and Mobile Association of India said, ‘The affected members of IAMAI are of the view that a substantive hearing of the matter is pending in the Supreme Court. Google should not take any coercive action during the pendency of the case, involving Indian and multinational corporations as well as start-ups.’

Earlier in the day, Google had said that after giving developers in India more than three years to prepare (including the three weeks following the Supreme Court order), it was taking necessary measures to ensure that Our policies are enforced consistently across the ecosystem, just as we do for any policy violations globally.

The company said in a blog post that enforcement of its policy, if necessary, could include removing non-compliant apps from Google Play.
