The Government Commission on Legislative Activities approved a project that allows military pensioners from the period of service in the DPR, LPR, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to be included in the insurance period before their annexation to Russia, TASS reports, citing sources. The bill was initiated by the Ministry of Labor.

The initiative involves equating the period of service in the DPR, LPR and Ukraine when calculating the insurance period with similar periods provided for by Russian laws. At the same time, the inclusion of periods of service in length of service must take into account the law on the right to pension provision for citizens permanently residing in new regions.

The law also applies to citizens who were members of the military formations of the DPR after April 7, 2014 and the LPR after April 27 of the same year. For residents of Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, the countdown will start from February 24, 2022. The law will also apply to those citizens who entered the territory of Russia before the inclusion of new regions into the Russian Federation.

In August 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decree on counting work experience in the civil service in new regions before their annexation when entering the civil service in Russia. The change affected deputies, diplomatic workers, judges, prosecutors and others.
