Helps to recover from injuries. The story of an entrepreneur from Poltava who opened a rehabilitation center

Last year, the entrepreneur opened a full-fledged clinic – a rehabilitation center in Poltava, which specializes in the treatment of backs and joints.
“We have a license to provide medical services, specialized doctors work, such as a doctor of physical and rehabilitation medicine, a neurologist. The clinic deals with physical therapy (restoration of movement). We also have treatment with the help of physiotherapy devices – shock wave, magnetic, laser therapy, electrical stimulation and others,” explains the founder of the institution, Dmytro Myronenko.
The clinic can simultaneously receive more than 10 people per hour. In particular, 5 patients in the physical therapy department and 4 in the physical therapy office. The clinic also has two massage rooms.
The entrepreneur learned about the Vlasna Sprava program from one of the employees of the Employment Center, who was being treated at the clinic.
“One of our patients told me about the possibility of receiving a grant from the state to expand or open my own business. That’s why I turned to the Employment Center, where I was told about the conditions for participation and the sequence of actions. I applied through the DIYA portal. Everything is simple and clear there, there are templates “, says Dmytro Myronenko.
He prepared a business plan to participate in the program. An accountant helped the entrepreneur to form the calculation part of the business plan.
“After submitting the document, there was an interview. Our business is already working, so it was not difficult to tell what I want to change in order to help even more people,” explains the founder of the rehabilitation center.
With grant funds, Dmytro Myronenko purchased additional equipment for rehabilitation – special simulators for kinesiotherapy (“movement therapy” is a direction of physical therapy that involves performing active and passive movements, certain exercises in therapeutic gymnastics and working on simulators to achieve a therapeutic result).
“We expanded, moved to a bigger room. Therefore, at the first stage, the grant funds helped a lot. Before the expansion, we worked as a rehabilitation center, we did not have a medical license, so we did not deal with treatment, but only prevention and secondary care for patients. For example, improving movement, reducing pain through physical activities on the doctor’s recommendation,” Dmytro Myronenko notes.
The grant also partially covered the cost of renting the new premises. Before participating in the program, the entrepreneur rented premises with an area of 90 m², where the working area occupied about 50 m². Currently, he rents premises with an area of more than 200 m², and the working area occupies about 120 m².
Over the past year, the medical facility has expanded to 9 employees. After receiving the grant, they hired two more specialists – an administrator and a physical therapist assistant. Later, several more employees were hired.
“When we existed as a rehabilitation studio, only four people worked for us – me, a massage therapist, a rehabilitator and an accountant. I had to be both an administrator and a physical therapist,” admits the founder of the institution.
He adds that due to the narrow specialization after the start of the war, it became much more difficult to find suitable specialists. Many of them went abroad or to other regions.
At the same time, the number of patients increased significantly due to the events in Ukraine.
“If we worked only as a rehabilitation center, then perhaps there would not be so many people, but our main direction is treatment, and rehabilitation is one of the components of all processes. Therefore, we have enough patients. We provide quality service, we are honest patients about cases when we will not be able to help, and we do not impose treatment,” explains Dmytro Myronenko.
Patients often turn to the medical institution after operations, fractures, injuries; soldiers recovering from injuries; people with chronic diseases. In the rehabilitation center, they help restore the functions of the limbs, strengthen the muscle corset.
“About 1,000 new patients come to us a year. If we talk about the general practice, we have already helped more than 3,000 people. In the period after receiving the grant, more than 1,500 people became patients of the clinic,” says the founder of the clinic.
