Indian company Dynamic Technologies will manufacture the doors of Airbus A220

Leading aircraft manufacturer Airbus has signed a contract with Bengaluru-based Dynamic Technologies to manufacture all doors for the single-aisle A220 family aircraft in India. This contract is not only a significant achievement but also reflects the success of the Make in India initiative.

Under this agreement, Dynamic Technologies will manufacture and assemble over-wing emergency exit doors as well as cargo, passenger and service doors for A220 family aircraft (eight doors per aircraft). Aircraft doors are critical structures, incorporating advanced technologies to meet stringent requirements for safety and overall efficiency.

This is the second door contract awarded by Airbus to an Indian supplier. Earlier in 2023, Airbus had awarded the contract to Tata Advanced Systems Limited to manufacture a large number of cargo doors for the A320 family.

Today, every Airbus commercial aircraft and every Airbus helicopter has critical technologies and systems designed, manufactured and maintained in India. Airbus supports approximately 10,000 jobs in India in partnership with local manufacturers. By 2025, this number is likely to increase to around 15,000 and the company expects to double its purchases from India from US$750 million to US$1.5 billion.

With a range of up to 3,600 nautical miles (6,700 kilometres) and seating capacity for 100 to 160 passengers, the A220 is ideally suited to India’s UDAN plan, which aims to enhance regional connectivity and boost economic growth across the country Is.

Hailing the partnership, Union Civil Aviation Minister Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia said, “India is increasingly becoming a destination for aerospace manufacturing across the world. The largest order for aircraft doors to Dynamic Technologies is a big moment for the Prime Minister’s Make in India, Make for the World pledge.” The minister further said that the pro-business policies of the government are helping India become more and more a leading aerospace manufacturing country.
