Deliveries to customers of the Russian passenger liner MS-21 should begin before the end of 2024, said Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. In September 2022 he saidthat commercial deliveries of the aircraft will begin in 2025.
“By the end of next year, we must complete the import substitution program with tests and also begin deliveries (MS-21.—“ Kommersant ”) for our commercial operators,” said in the studio “Stars” on the sidelines of the Army-2023 International Military-Technical Forum, Minister.
MS-21 is a medium-range aircraft with a capacity of 163 to 211 passengers. The liner is being created as a replacement for the Tu-154 and Tu-204/214 liners, as well as an alternative to the Airbus A320, Boeing 737 and others.
In July, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said TASSthat the MS-21 is “no worse than the best Western analogues.” This month, the CEO of Yakovlev PJSC (the developer of the MS-21 family) Andrey Boginsky informedthat in 2024 it is planned to deliver the first six MC-21 aircraft to the airline. By 2027, according to him, it is planned to increase the production volume to 36 aircraft per year.
The cost of the aircraft with delivery in 2028-2030 for Aeroflot’s competitors is estimated at 4.3-4.6 billion rubles, which is more expensive than analogues from Airbus and Boeing. Aeroflot will receive the aircraft at a price of 3.2 billion rubles.
