Oral hygiene: Italian spending increased by 22% in the last year

In Italy, attention is growing fororal hygiene. In 2022, the expenditure at the supermarket for the purchase of oral health and hygiene products is increased by 22% compared to 2021 and is now equivalent to 9% of the total. This was revealed by a study conducted by the online shopping marketplace Everli which analyzed the purchases made on its platform.
In the top 20 of the most purchased oral hygiene items at the supermarket, the toothpaste appears 15 times, the brushes 3 times, mouthwash And dental floss once each. In particular, the first two places in the ranking are occupied by toothpastes for the protection against tooth decay and gums. Furthermore, there are two criteria that seem to influence consumers’ choice of toothpastes: practicalitylinked primarily to the presence of combined benefits, and theaesthetics, attributable to the whitening and anti-yellowing effects claimed by some products. Toothbrushes with medium bristles, in ninth and fourteenth position, are also in great demand, as are those that promise ‘extra cleaning’, in seventeenth place, preferably in packs of two pieces, which are cheaper. Mouthwash and waxed dental floss complete the ranking, placing themselves in eighteenth and twentieth place respectively.
At a geographical level, Lombardy, Emilia Romagna And Veneto they are the regions in which the most is spent on oral hygiene. All three boast two capitals in the ‘ranking’ of the provinces: Milan (1st place) e Varese (9th); Bologna (4th) e Rimini (10th); Padua (5th) e Verona (7th). Next, we find Piedmont, Lazio, Friuli Venezia Giulia And Liguria.
